The Revenge Porn Question: Can I Sext You ?
How recent Revenge Porn news could cure, help, screw my sexting addiction?
It’s not a secret, I love sexting. Who doesn’t?
It’s a sweet guilty pleasure where you let yourself go in a kinky world. Exchanging naked pics without inhibition, extending the limits of your Sexperience, pushing your dirty talk skills to the hidden 51th Shade of Grey… It is just GREAT!
I love these random conversation where a naughty picture is dropped like a bomb and it goes back and forward until some pinnacle pornish moments. I think it’s a freaking good tease in a relationship.
Like devoted geeks collecting rare Marvel comics, some people are considering these photos / videos contents as their precious. I guess they love the fact of having these as a private dedicated collection and it turns even to a sort of fetish… Are they selfish not sharing with us? Or weird? Is fapping on your ex’s video cheating? So many questions, so little answers.
But this sexting addiction could be ruined by the fresh Californian weighs making Revenge Porn illegal.
…California Legislature is debating a new bill that would make it a misdemeanor for people to distribute sexually explicit photos or videos they’d shot in order to cause others humiliation or distress. It has already passed the state Senate. Under the new law, distributing these types of videos and photos would become a misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine for first violation. A second offense could result in a year in jail and a $2,000 fine. The perpetrator would not become a registered sex offender…
The law passes but it appears to be a little bit weird. For instance, it only applies to images or videos taken by the perpetrator. Which is in a way not protecting enough cases, as 80% of the material involved in revenge Porn are self-shots. The law is not covering any hacking action too. Therefore if a bad-ass nerd mandated by your ex obtains some content by hacking your shit and then distributes it to the world, the law doesn’t apply. Oh and by the way, revenge Porn websites are not covered by this law.
Right now, victims of revenge Porn haven’t got any handful tools to fight back. The main blocker on this law is the protection of free speech; revenge Porn can’t be banned because it makes some people uncomfortable. US government is not aim to censor the expression of any idea because the public opinion finds it offensive. This is the common backhand of the freedom speech, it’s for everyone whatever is the speech’s content. Nevertheless, we can imagine that some discourses have to be possibly categorized and regulated, because they are harmful and they absolutely do not bring any breakthrough into the free speech arena.
There are still a lot of discussion to make around this law and about how to criminalize efficiently a revenge Porn behavior. Actions taken some time ago by New-Jersey and now by California and Wisconsin are a first step to enable a better protection. Now more states are finally considering to take actions on revenge Porn.
But why would it blow-up sexting?
Well, out of the fact that these laws are totally legit, the wide recent exposure of revenge’s websites and the bunch of affairs buzzing around could leave us in a revenge’s growing fear. God bless America, selfies are “legal” to be used in revenge Porn! YAY! But it means these are aim to be a very sensitive subject now and we can expect a rarefaction.
Two possibilities can rise up: you stop sexting or you continue in a weird way.
Yeah, no sexting, so no one is taking any risk if the relationship ends up bad. Or you keep sexting but the goal would be collecting on each side of the conversation an equal amount of NSFW-weapons material to strike back in case of a revenge attack.
Revenge is dish best served…
Ex-lovers taking revenge is nothing new. It is an entire universe full of creativity where you can find different arty ways to show that your ex was a perfect moron.
In the same vein, revenge Porn websites are not a fresh trend. It’s been here for years, giving some tremendous online information on ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends with a perfect NSFW “Fuckbook” picture profile glued to a name. Actually, myex.com is making big waves and it pushed the dirty game further by enabling the possibility of deleting your published name/photo/profile from their database if you give money. It’s hard to believe they really do delete it no ? They are linked to a website called reputationguard.co which says:
We are dedicated to YOUR reputation. As the industry leader in reputation management we provide a complete set of services that will enable you to control how search engines see you. Our team of professionals will use their years of experience to help you manage your online reputation.
They have different custom packages to save your reputation and they can erase profiles on Dirty.com too. They spread the mess and they clean it. Nice people! Doesn’t it look surrealist? It’s like giving money to the Russian Mafia to protect your shop from themselves.
You can even find there and there a lot of other websites surfing on the #EX wave where real Porn performers are filmed in action with an amateur look. This is then sold afterwards as some kind of revenge videos where you are aim to see an ex-revenge on screen. Salacious boner.
The fact: It’s a good money maker
Hunter Moore is real the guru of this dirty business. Founder of the infamous (now closed) Isanyoneup.com he has even been declared the “most hated man on the Internet” by Rolling-Stone. His recipe was simply based on a website with anonymous submission of nude content (photo /videos). It went quickly viral and reach the point where each submission made to the website were showing men’s and women’s social networking profiles (Twitter, Facebook…) along with some pictures of them clothed before revealing at the end the dirty content. Hunter Moore, is a notorious dickhead but he made some serious business from revenge Porn and with 30 million monthly visits, he made up to 10.000$ a month (only with the advertising). Juicy dirty fucking business!
The revenge’s aftermath
Above my selfish fear of a sexting extinction, we need to remember that revenge Porn is a big messy land, where there is real risk for people to have a ruined life. I’m talking here about John Doe or Jane Doe, ordinary people whom live surrounded by a quite massive and symptomatic social pressure. It looks like famous people such as Paris.H or Kim.K are pretty untouched. Their secret? They are brainless stupid spoiled people and untalented attention’s vampires. They love douches with a lotta $$$$ and some P.O.V skills. Now, sex-tapes and leaked pictures are part of their media’s kit and it even comes to a point where sex-tapes are kinda has been. The question is: What will be the post sex-tape step?
For everyone elsewhere, the systematic fear of being judge by others and the fear of social rejection are omnipresent. Because of the internet openness and the overall social media speed; in a minute your naked image can go viral and it comes with all the personal information stalkers need on you, such as: email/Facebook /address/employer… Indeed things that all 4Chan creeps could find if you do a request with a nice picture.
Whatever is the motif of revenge, please think twice before being an eternal idiot. Because of your inglorious action, people can be seriously harmed. They can lose their job, being harassed, being rejected, feeling insulted and being pushed to some deep depression state. Don’t we say: “Deal with the faults of others as gently as with your own“? At le Tag Parfait, we spread love.
Who is to blame?
Hunter Moore? Perhaps.
You and me? Well…
Casual dickheads? Most likely!
Sexting is a part of this lustful circle of trust you have in your relationship. At some point I would say every one of us had some pornish content of their lovers in the hands. I guess even your parents, back in the days, were doing some private quality softcore Polaroid. Which you might find someday in the attic of your beloved childhood house. But at this point, please be happy they don’t know how to use new technologies to enhance their Porn side!
With Ex’s everything can go quickly into hard feelings and you can’t protect yourself from moron or lame revenge’s behavior. Like in any normal human interaction, at the end, it’s all a matter of trust and respect. Whatever happens in your relationship don’t you think it’s better to keep cool and have this potential revenge’s content private?
Will we have to sign a contract before sexting?
Imagine if each part would have to take a lawyer and sign a contract of confidentiality before taking pictures or exchanging naked selfies? Is this that kind of weird relation you want to have? I mean it can be somehow hot if you have a fetish for #lawyers and #administration.
At least use Snapchat! But for fuck sake don’t be pigs then we can all continue having fun.
